Sister Eva Marie (Mary Henriette) Gillman, BVM

Sister Eva Marie (Mary Henriette) Gillman, BVM, 97, of Marian Hall, 1050 Carmel Drive, died at 5:45 a.m. Friday, Aug. 15, 2003, at Marian Hall.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Marian Hall Chapel. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at Marian Hall Chapel, where there will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. The Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque, Ill., is in charge of arrangements.

Sister Eva Marie taught in elementary and secondary schools in Cascade, Clinton, Mason City, Riverside and Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and Illinois; Wisconsin; Tennessee; Oregon; Minnesota; and California.

She was born on Aug. 6, 1906, in Moline, Ill., daughter of Thomas and Matilda (Vershaw) Gillman.

She made her first profession of religious vows on March 19, 1928, and her final profession on Aug. 15, 1934.

Surviving are a sister, Mary Elizabeth McClain, of Rock Island, Ill.; a brother, Thomas H. Gillman of Moline; nieces and nephews; and the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, with whom she shared life for 76 years.

Memorials may be given to the Sisters of Charity, BVM Retirement Fund.
