Gerald C. "Jerry" Shuey, 59, of Prospect Heights, Ill., formerly of Dubuque, died Friday, Aug. 8, 2003, at home, of natural causes.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 2917 Central Ave., Dubuque, where friends may call after 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Burial of the cremated remains will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Dubuque, where military rites will be accorded by the Marine Corps League and the Tri-State Vietnam Veterans Association. The Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., Dubuque, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Shuey worked for Baxter Laboratories in Chicago for 23 years prior to retiring.

He was born on Sept. 14, 1943, in Dubuque, son of Kenneth L. and Catherine "Kay" (Kolfenbach) Shuey.

He was a member of the first graduating class of Wahlert High School, Dubuque.

He served with the Marine Corps for 10 years and was a Marine Corps recruiter in the Chicago area.

He was a very loving father and grandfather and his life revolved around his family.

Surviving are two daughters, Lena (Kenneth) Dutkiewicz and Tami Shuey, and two sons, Thomas (Kimberly) Shuey and Gerald Shuey, all of Chicago; five grandchildren; and his parents, Kenneth and Catherine "Kay" (Kolfenbach) Shuey, of Dubuque.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas Shuey and Kenneth Shuey.

In lieu of flowers, a Gerald C. Shuey Memorial Fund has been established.
