Craig F. Cross, of Harlingen, Texas, formerly of Dubuque, and Jacksonville, Wyo., passed away Friday, Aug. 15, 2003, at home.

Burial will be in the family plot at Linwood Cemetery, Dubuque, at a later date. The Rudy Garza Funeral Home, Harlingen, is in charge of arrangements.

He was born on June 4, 1921, in Dubuque. He was an Army Air Force veteran and served at Pearl Harbor.

He was a member of the Elks 1889, Masonic Lodge 3, D.A.V. 121, Veterans of Foreign Wars 2410, American Legion Post 0250 and the Confederate Air Force.

He was a three-event Olympic competitor in speed skating, swimming and track. He was an avid hunter and guide and enjoyed working on vintage World War II aircraft, particularly the B24.

Surviving are his wife, Irene; four children; three stepchildren; nine grandchildren; his favorite nephew; and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father and sister.

The family would like to especially thank VBMC Hospice Services, Vicky Roy Caregivers, DHS and Dr. Ray Smith for all of the care and attention.
