John W. Kemp, 38, of 3623 N. Sterling Ave., Apt. A-10, Peoria, Ill., formerly of Dubuque, died of extensive coronary disease Saturday morning, Aug. 2, 2003, at home.

Chapel services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 main St., Dubuque. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Key West, Iowa. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial services will be held at a later date in Peoria.

Mr. Kemp was employed at Luebke Baker and Associates in Peoria.

He was born on Nov. 7, 1964, in Abilene, Texas, son of Richard L. and Margaret A. (Ferguson) Kemp.

He was a 1983 graduate of Dubuque Senior High School and a 1988 graduate of Clarke College in Dubuque. He was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church, Peoria.

John enjoyed traveling, swimming, reading and listening to music.

Surviving are his father and stepmother, Richard L. and Helen Kemp, of Ankeny, Iowa; two brothers, Jeff M. (fiancee, Sheron Wright) Kemp, of Chicago, and David W. Kemp, of Dubuque; two stepsisters, Jody Scott and Jeanne Saunders, both of Dubuque; a stepbrother, Jon (Tobi) Baker, of Ankeny; nieces and nephews; and his partner of 10 years, Allen J. Draper, of Peoria.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret A. Kemp, on April 26, 1988.

A John W. Kemp Memorial Fund has been established in care of his father, Richard Kemp, 1940 Summer Drive, Ankeny, Iowa 50021.
