Lorrayne E. Oswald, 84, of Stonehill Care Center, formerly of 3195 Foothill Court, died Wednesday morning, July 23, 2003, at the center.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Nativity Catholic church. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Key West, Iowa. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, where there will be a rosary at 6:30 p.m.

Lorrayne was an admittance clerk at Mercy Hospital during the 1950s, and then became a secretary at Mutual of Omaha until 1967. For 22 years, she worked in the development office at the University of Dubuque, retiring in 1989.

She was born on June 27, 1919, in Dubuque, daughter of Clarence and Grace (Trude) Dirksen.

She had resided in Dubuque most of her life and was a graduate of the former St. Joseph's Academy. She was a member of Nativity Parish and its Rosary Society.

Surviving are her children, Cyril W. (Lynda) Oswald, of Hudson, Fla., Keith (Cary) Oswald, of Rickardsville, Iowa, Shari Bartels, of Dubuque, and Suzanne (Timothy) Fleming, of Mason City, Iowa; six grandchildren, Tony and Brian Oswald, Kris (Jason) Clausen, Amy (Troy) Elwood and Eric and Kimberly Fleming; three great-grandchildren, Klye, Justin and Rebecca; a sister, Jeanne Kieffer, of Dubuque; and her sister-in-law, Ruth Dirksen, of Dubuque.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two grandchildren, Mark Oswald and Tracey Oswald; a sister, Betty Stanley; a brother, Clarence Dirksen; and her son-in-law, Larry Bartels.

A Lorrayne E. Oswald Memorial Fund has been established.
