Cynthia A. "Cindy" Steffen, 49, of Anamosa, Iowa, formerly of Dubuque, died Friday, July 25, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Resurrection Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery, both in Dubuque. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, Dubuque, where there will be a parish scripture wake service at 7 p.m.
She taught special education at Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, for the past 25 years.
She was born on June 10, 1954, in Dubuque, daughter of Gerald and Viola (Mills) Steffen. She graduated from Wahlert High School in 1972 and Loras College in 1976.
She was a recipient of the "Teach Of The Year" award for her talents in special education. She was involved in various special education programs in the Cedar Rapids area.
In her spare time, Cindy enjoyed spending time with her family and friends as well as playing the organ and listening to country music. She was a member of St. Patrick's Parish, Anamosa.
Surviving are her parents, Gerald and Viola (Mills) Steffen, of Dubuque; her sister-in-law, Carol (Bob) Dietzel, of East Dubuque, Ill.; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Kurt Steffen.
A Cynthia A. Steffen Memorial Fund has been established.
