(November 18, 1926 - June 7, 2011)

Dorothy E. Mueller, 84, formerly of 2155 Morningview Road died Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at Luther Manor.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 13th at St. Anthony Catholic Church, with Rev. Steven Rosonke officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hoffmann-Schneider Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1640 Main St., where there will be a wake service at 7:30 p.m..

She was born November 18, 1926, daughter of Michael and Mary (Steines) Welsch in St. Donatus, Iowa. She married Robert E. Mueller Nov. 26, 1952 at Holy Family Catholic Church, New Melleray, Peosta. He preceded her in death on Aug. 15, 2004.

She graduated from St. Columbkille High School in 1944.

As a young woman, she worked at Stamphers Department Store where she met Bob Mueller, a widow with 3 young children. After their marriage she devoted her life to her husband and his 3 sons while working at American Trust & Savings Bank and doing the bookkeeping for MTC Appliance where her husband was a partner.

After retirement, she and her husband enjoyed wintering in Florida and visiting the Harle family while there. She resided at Luther Manor until her passing, where she played a sharp game of euchre, was a frequent bingo winner, and an active participant of the rosary group.

She was a life-long member of St. Anthony parish, and wore her Miraculous Medal of Immaculate Conception daily with great comfort. It is believed the medal brings special graces through the intercession of Mary if worn with faith and devotion.

Surviving are two sons, David (Betty) Mueller, of Loves Park, Ill., and Tom (Julia) Mueller, of Nashville, TN.; a daughter-in-law, Judy Mueller, of Dubuque; grandchildren, Randy (Connie) Mueller, Debbie Nichols, Sue (Jim) Miller, Robert P. (Jennifer) Mueller, Todd (Cheri) Mueller, Scott Mueller, Beth (Chris) Haber, Sara (Nick) Sirna and Megan (J.R.) Gisi; great grandchildren 23; and great great-grandchildren 11.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, a son, Robert Mueller Jr., a granddaughter-in-law, Deb Mueller, and sister and brother-in-law, Rita and Albert Harle.

The family of Dorothy would like to thank Fr. Daniel Lenihan, of New Melleray Abby, who was like a brother to her, for the life-long friendship. Thank you to the staff at Luther Manor for the love and care provided to Dorothy for the past five years, and to Virginia Ehrlich, her hairdresser at Luther, who always made her feel beautiful.

Memorials may be given to New Melleray Abby, St. Anthony Parish or Hospice of Dubuque.
