Deceased Name: Marie E. Dietzel

Marie E. Dietzel, 88, of 3485 Windsor Ave., Dubuque, died Tuesday, May 8, 2007, at Stonehill Care Center, Dubuque.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Dubuque, with the Rev. Thomas R. Zinkula officiating. Burial will be in Holy Ghost Cemetery, Dickeyville, Wis. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Behr's Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street, Dubuque, where a parish wake service will be at 3 p.m.

She was born on Dec. 12, 1918, in Dickeyville, daughter of Henry and Helena (Busch) Dietzel. Marie moved to Dubuque in 1967 and was a self-employed seamstress for most of her life. She had a strong devotion to her church and the Blessed Mother. She was a member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Dubuque, a member of the 3rd Order of St. Francis and the Power of Prayer.

She enjoyed her sewing, gardening and flowers. Marie was a wonderful cook and baker who will be long remembered for her cream pies, cornbread and cherry rolls. She loved traveling, especially vacationing "up north" around Danbury, Wis. Marie dearly loved her nieces and nephews and would help them in any way that she could.

Surviving are her three sisters, Leona Digman, of Lancaster, Wis., Angeline Digman, of Platteville, Wis., and Ann Dietzel, of Dubuque; a sister-in-law, Sally Dietzel, of Dickeyville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother & sister-in-law, Bernard (Marcella) Dietzel; a brother, Ambrose Dietzel; two brothers-in-law, Lavern Digman and Leonard Digman; a nephew, Roland Dietzel; a great-nephew Brian Muller; and a great-niece Katie Hartke.

A Marie E. Dietzel Memorial Fund has been established.
