Deceased Name: Raymond J. Brimeyer

DYERSVILLE, Iowa - Raymond J. Brimeyer, 92, of Dyersville, died Monday, Aug. 15, 2005, at Stonehill Care Center, Dubuque, surrounded by his family, as a result of complications from a fall.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with the Rev. Jerry Kopacek officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a scripture service at 4:30 p.m.

He was born on Feb. 20, 1913, son of Peter and Louisa (Lang) Brimeyer. He attended Plum Creek School.

He married Alvina J. Ellerbach on May 24, 1938, in Holy Cross; she preceded him in death in 1996.

He operated the family farm in the North Buena Vista area until 1973, when they moved to Dyersville. He then began working in the maintenance department at the Dyersville Hospital until his retirement.

In later years, he enjoyed walking the Kennedy Mall with his wife, woodworking, chatting with his Dyersville neighbors in the evening and a good chew of Red Man.

Ray's life was centered around his family and faith.

Surviving are six daughters, Mary Lou (Roger) Meyer, of Dubuque, Joanne (Tom) Oberbroeckling, Judy (Richard) Boeckenstedt and Karen (Tom) Turner, all of Dyersville, Darlene (Larry) Boeckenstedt, of New Vienna, and Marlene (Jerome L.) Errthum, of Sherrill; two sons, Ken (Dorothy) Brimeyer, of Dubuque, and Steve (Bonnie) Brimeyer, of Farley; 28 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, an expected great-grandchild and five stepgreat-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Orvelyn (Carl) Brimeyer and Emma (Clarence) Schultz; and a brother-in-law, Raymond Ellerbach.

He also was preceded in death by two daughters, Patricia Lange, in 2000, and Kathy Brimeyer, in 1977; a granddaughter, Anne Marie Meyer, in 1993; a great-grandson, Austin Oberbroeckling, in 1998; two sons-in-law, Clark Lange, in 1992, and Virgil Hoeger, in 1963; five brothers, Hubert, Cornelius, Bill, Edward and Carl Brimeyer; and three sisters, Bernadette Engling, Eleanor Jochum and Veronica Engling.

A Raymond J. Brimeyer Memorial Fund has been established.
