Deceased Name: Gladys E. Brimeyer, 89
ROCKFORD - Gladys E. Brimeyer, 89, of Rockford, formerly of Dubuque, Iowa, died at 7:45 p.m. Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, in OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center.

Born Oct. 25, 1911, in Dubuque, daughter of Herman and Louise Buttikoffer Mehl. Gladys married Edward N. Brimeyer on Nov. 26, 1929, in St. Mary Catholic Church, Dubuque he died July 7, 1985.

She was a full-time wife, homemaker and mother of nine sons. Gladys and Ed operated the "Y" Drive-In in Galena for 10 years. She was a member of St. Columbkille's Church and a member and past president of the Rosary Society. Member of Legion of the Sacred Heart, St. Vincent de Paul Society and Project Concern. One of the founders of Dubuque Craft League, Gladys enjoyed crocheting, knitting, needlework and making crafts, and often knitted hats and mittens for children. She was very proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and will be remembered for helping anyone in need.

Survivors include sons, Thomas R. (Patricia) Brimeyer of Bettendorf, Iowa, Donald C. (Judy) Brimeyer of East Dubuque, Ill., Roger J. (Ann) Brimeyer of Fond du Lac, Wis., Robert R. (Ruth) Brimeyer of Rockford, Charles J. (Patricia) Brimeyer of Dubuque and Daniel L. Brimeyer of Zion 24 grandchildren 32 great-grandchildren sisters, Ethel (George "Abie") Hutter of Dubuque, Ruby (Edward) Heller of Alleghany Spring, Va., Grace (Peter) Welu of Asbury, Iowa brother, Walter (Frances) Mehl of Sterling and sister-in-law, Gloria Mehl of Colorado Springs.

Also predeceased by sons, James in 1950, David in March 1951 and Gerald in 1953 brothers, Donald Mehl in infancy and Raymond Mehl sisters, Evelyn Mehl in infancy and Evelyn Montgomery, who died the same day Gladys did.

Services were Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, in St. Columbkille's Church, Dubuque. Burial was in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Behr's Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., Dubuque, assisted the family. 1-4-2
