Jeffrey M. Nakashima, 24, of Fairfield, Iowa, formerly of Dubuque, died suddenly at home of natural causes on Sunday, March 16, 2003.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony's Church. Private burial will be at a later date. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, Dubuque, where there will be a parish scripture wake service at 7:30 p.m.

He was born on Oct. 20, 1978, in Dubuque, son of James Nakashima and Dianne Stroehle.

He graduated from Dubuque Wahlert High School in 1997 and LaJames School of Cosmetology in 1999. He worked at OvationSalon in Fairfield since 1999.

Jeffrey was a caring and helpful person who loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a Michael Jackson fan and thoroughly enjoyed the company of his dog, Eby.

Surviving are his parents, James Nakashima and Dianne (Michael) Stroehle, both of Dubuque; a brother, Michael Nakashima, of Denver; a sister, Rebecca (fianc, Will Brooke) Nakashima, of Chicago; and his maternal grandmother, Bernice Jeppesen Pier, of Dubuque.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Dr. Victor and Kaye Nakashima; and his maternal grandfather, Fred Jeppesen.

A Jeffrey Nakashima Memorial Fund has been established.
