William Cook, one of the old and well known citizens of Dubuque county, died at his home in Jefferson township on Sunday night after an illness of some time. He lived in the southwest part of the township, south of Rickardsville, about twelve miles from the city. In an early day he went to California and did very well there. On his return in the early '50's he purchased a farm in Jefferson township and has resided there ever since. He was known to and respected by all in that vicinty. He was a brother of Walter and Joseph Cook, all old and prominent men in that section.
