Sister Rose Zimmer, 86, of Holy Family Hall, died at 2:10 p.m. Friday, June 27, 2003, at the Holy Family Hall Infirmary

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Mount St. Francis Chapel, with burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the chapel, where there will be a wake service at 7:30 p.m. The Dennis Kitchen Funeral Home, 3860 Asbury Road, is in charge of arrangements.

Sister Rose ministered as a teacher in the Iowa schools of Dubuque at Holy Trinity, Templeton, Webster City, Worthington, Waterloo at St. Edward, and in the Illinois schools of Chicago (St. Mary of the Woods) and Niles.

She was born on Feb. 15, 1917, Glen Haven, Wis., daughter of Frank and Christina (Mumm) Zimmer.

She entered the Sisters of St. Francis on Aug. 25, 1934, and made her final profession of religious vows on Aug. 10, 1940.

Surviving are a sister, Margaret Grohmann; a sister-in-law, Carol Zimmer; and the Franciscan Sisters with whom she shared 67 years of her life.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Agnes (Michael) Schmitt, Rose (Vincent) Wiest and Dorothy (William) Lubben; brothers, Lawrence and Joseph; and a brother-in-law, Al Grohmann.

Memorials may be given to the Sisters of St. Francis, 3390 Windsor Ave., Dubuque, Iowa 52001-1311.
