Lourdes M. "Lou" Ludens, 73, of 2272 Pasadena Drive, No. 3, died Sunday, June 22, 2003, at home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road. S

She was born on Feb. 11, 1930, in Cascade, Iowa, daughter of Charles and Mary (Manternach) Radloff. She married Marvin Ludens on April 11, 1953, in Cascade; he died on July 10, 1986.

She worked at The Finley Hospital in the business office for more than 20 years, retiring in 1994. Most recently Lou worked at the Mount Loretto Convent on Carter Road in Dubuque. In the past she was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society.

Lou enjoyed playing golf and euchre, but her greatest joy was found in the time she spent with her family. Lou was a ray of sunshine in many lives throughout hers and will be dearly missed.

Surviving are five children, Lori (Greg) Kann, and their children, Eric, Mitchell and Ryan Kann, all of Guttenberg, Iowa. Mark (Elaine) Ludens, and their children, Brad, Micara, Danny and Tim Ludens, all of Naperville, Ill., Libby (Jeff) Streinz, and their children, Kelsey, Emily and Andy Streinz, all of Dubuque, Michael Ludens, of Dallas, Texas, and Leslie Ludens (Rob Foley) and children, Morgan, Robbie and Dalton Foley, all of Dubuque; four sisters, Mona (Ed) Gross, of Cascade, Ione Grether, of La Mesa, Calif., Mina Sandt, of Dubuque, and Sister Rita Radloff, of Birmingham, Ala.; a brother, C.J. (Glenys) Radloff, of Winter Haven, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Alma Johnson, of Sibley, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Ruth Timmerman; two brothers, Nick and Louie Radloff; three brother-in-laws, Len Timmerman, Bob Grether and Dick Sandt.

A Lourdes M. Ludens Memorial Fund has been established.
