Wayne Charles Chaloupka, 72, of 1215 Kelly Lane, died at 4:15 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2003, at The Finley Hospital.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, where there will be a parish wake service at 4:30 p.m.

Mr. Chaloupka worked for Spahn & Rose Lumber Co., Dubuque, for many years and was a member of the Dubuque Home Builder Association.

He was born on May 13, 1931, in Dubuque, son of Charles and Isabelle (Gassman) Chaloupka. He married Donna Nicks on April 11, 1959 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Dubuque.

He graduated from Dubuque Senior High School and attended Loras College. He was an Army veteran. He was a member of the Dubuque Bowling Leagues and the Dubuque Railroad Club. His many pastimes included hunting and fishing, working on his model railroad and model ships, and doing genealogy research. He was an avid Hawkeyes fan.

Surviving are his wife, Donna; three daughters, Keri (Mike) Doyle, of Bettendorf, Iowa, Julie (John) Delaney, of Davenport, Iowa, and Cali Chaloupka, of Fort Collins, Colo.; four grandchildren, Megan, Anna, Matthew and Brian; a brother, Rod (Lorraine) Chaloupka, of Dubuque; and a sister, Carol Nebel, of Holy Cross, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother-in-law, Roger Nebel.
