Mary Jo Anderson, 76, of 2985 Fox Hollow Drive, died Monday, June 16, 2003, at Stonehill Care Center.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Columbkille's Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Key West, Iowa. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the church, where there will be a parish scripture wake service at 7 p.m.

She was born on Dec. 6, 1926, in Sioux City, Iowa, daughter of Eugene and Ruth (Nugent) Duggan.

Mary Jo was born and raised in Sioux City, and moved to Dubuque in 1945, to attend Clarke College. While at Clarke, she met Bob "Hunk" Anderson and the two were married on Sept. 7, 1946.

She was an active member of St. Columbkille's Parish for the past 50 years. She did volunteer work at the Dubuque Rescue Mission and also belonged to Mother's Club for many years. Mary Jo was a member of Dubuque Golf and Country Club and enjoyed playing golf.

Surviving are her husband, Robert D. "Hunk" Anderson Sr., of Dubuque; her children, Robert D. (Debbie) Anderson, Jr., of Dubuque, Jody (Dr. David Rowell) Anderson, of Salem, Ore., Peggy (Tim) Meyer, of Barrington, Ill., Chris (LuAnne) Anderson, of Bellevue, Iowa, Amy (Mark Hill) Anderson, of Des Moines, and Nancy (Dr. Jaffer) Bashey, of Corvalis, Ore.; and 21 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Teri; a grandson, Christopher; and her parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Dubuque Rescue Mission and The Power Of Prayer
