Sister Rose (Mary Carmenita) Gilio, BVM

Sister Rose (Mary Carmenita) Gilio, BVM, 90, of Marian Hall, 1050 Carmel Drive, died at 5:20 p.m. Sunday, June 22, 2003, at Marian Hall.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Marian Hall Chapel. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Marian Hall, where there will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery. The Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., is in charge of arrangements.

Sister Rose was an elementary school teacher in Chicago, Lincoln and Maywood, Ill.; Des Moines, Cresco, Fort Dodge and Cedar Rapids, Iowa; West Hempstead, N.Y.; Lead and Rapid City, S.D.; Casper, Wyo.; Kansas City, Mo.; and Stockton, San Jose, Santa Ana and Santa Clara, Calif.

She was born on Sept. 15, 1912, in Kansas City, daughter of Carmeno and Anna (Luna) Gilio.

She made her first profession of religious vows on March 19, 1935, and her final profession on Aug. 15, 1940.

Surviving are a brother, Angelo Gilio, of Fairfield, Calif.; nieces and nephews; and the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary with whom she shared life for 70 years.

Memorials may be given to the Sisters of Charity, BVM, Retirement Fund.
