Mrs. Ralph F. (Frances M.) Firzlaff, 87, of 1930 Scenic View Drive, died at 2:28 p.m. Sunday, June 22, 2003, at home, surrounded by her family.

Chapel services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St. Burial will be in Dubuque Memorial Gardens, south of Dubuque. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Firzlaff was employed at Montgomery Wards in Dubuque from 1960 to 1972.

She was born on May 2, 1916, in Dubuque, daughter of Engleburt Earl and Marie Caroline (Kortemeyer) Graham. She married Ralph F. Firzlaff on Dec. 20, 1939, in Davenport, Iowa; he died on May 14, 1984.

She was an avid bowler and a member of the Dubuque Bowling Association. She was a volunteer in the office for the Little Cloud Girl Scout Council. She also was a member of the 62 Plus Club and enjoyed playing cards.

Surviving are a daughter, Diane J. Hayes, of Dubuque; three sons, R.G. "Skip" (Joyce) Firzlaff, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Steven D. (Linda) Firzlaff, of Key West, Iowa, and Mark E. (Sheila) Firzlaff, of Longmont, Colo.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Esther Heer and Jeanne (Robert) Puls, both of Dubuque, and LaVerne Ferguson, of Toledo, Ohio; and nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Orville "Red" (Dolores) Fuller, and a brother-in-law, Joseph Heer.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice of Dubuque, 2255 Kennedy Road, Dubuque, Iowa 52002 and Tri-State Dialysis, 1500 Delhi St., Dubuque, Iowa 52001.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Mark Hermann, Dr. John Whalen, Dr. Philip Leeson and the staff at Dubuque Internal Medicine, the staff and volunteers at Hospice of Dubuque, and home-care provider, Shirley Kramer, and family friend, Darlene Kaufmann, for their care and concern for Frances and the family.
