Mrs. Ritamae E. (Kaiser) Matous, 81, of 1839 Carter Road, died Friday morning, June 6, 2003, at home.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the Roselawn Chapel at Dennis Kitchen Funeral Home, 3860 Asbury Road, where friends may call after 9 a.m. Monday. Entombment will be in Resurrection Garden Mausoleum at Mount Calvary Cemetery.

She was born on Oct. 6, 1921, in Dubuque, daughter of Walter and Lucile (Dunkley) Kaiser. She married Edward J. "Ed" Matous on May 9, 1942, in Dubuque; he passed away on Aug. 20, 1997.

Ritamae was grateful for her long work career of 66 years. She started at age 15 at the General Dry Battery Factory, working there for 20 years until they closed. She then attended beauty college and owned her own shop for more than 20 years. She went to work for Klauer Mfg. Co., working there for 20 years full time and several more years part time.

One of Ritamae's most cherished lifetime achievements was being inducted into the Dubuque Bowling Hall of Fame in 2001. She was still active as secretary of her league at the time of her death.

She was a longtime member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Dubuque.

She was an avid card player and enjoyed participation in several euchre groups.

Surviving are two sisters, Margaret (Bill) Morris, of Rhinelander, Wis., and Juanita Sokol, of Palos Park, Ill.; a brother, Walter (Mary) Kaiser Jr., of Dayton, Ohio; two sisters-in-law, Edna Udelhofen and Florence Loewen, both of Dubuque; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by her parents.

The family requests no flowers. Memorials may be made to St. Matthew's Lutheran Church and to the American Heart Association.
