Joseph J. Behr, 72, of 1077 Hawthorne Place, Pewaukee, Wis., formerly of Dubuque, died Monday, May 26, 2003, at Columbia Hospital, Milwaukee.

Services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Good Hope Church, N. 41st and W. Good Hope Road, Milwaukee, where friends may call after 4 p.m. Thursday. The Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., Dubuque, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Behr was involved with Catholic education in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee for more than 20 years.

He was born on July 4, 1930, in Dubuque, son of Joseph J. and Clara (Frommelt) Behr. He married Nancy Ann Perry on Dec. 10, 1976, in Milwaukee.

Joe's life long passion was the study of Sacred Scripture.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy Ann Behr; a sister, Florence (Al) Puls, of Dubuque; a brother, Irv (Lorraine) Behr, of Dubuque; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Spahn, in 1964; and a brother, Melvin, in infancy.

Memorials may be given to the St. Joseph's Indian School, Chamberlain, S.D. 57326.
