Cherry L. Mallaro, 74, of Heritage Manor, formerly of Ecumenical Towers, died Tuesday, May 20, 2003, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Siegert-Didesch Colonial Funeral Home, 390 N. Grandview Ave., where friends may call after 1 p.m. Friday. Burial of the cremated remains will be at a later date.

She was born on July 12, 1928, in Coleridge, Neb., daughter of Harry and Ann (Dirks) Lange.

Cherry was an avid reader and thoroughly enjoyed her crosswords. She also was a great sports fan and would never miss her Hawkeyes or Packers play. She was a past member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Carla Jellison, of La Crosse, Wis., and Lori Mallaro, of Albert Lee, Minn.; a daughter-in-law, Barbara (Bryan) DeWitt, of Rochelle, Ill.; 10 grandchildren, Stephanie Mallaro, Nikki (Jason) Long, Nina Mallaro, Holly, Berry and Kelly Jr. Jellison, Sierra and Slater Steele and Deric and December Moore; four great-grandsons; and a sister, Delores (Tom) Gronemeyer, of Gowrie, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Rod Mallaro, in 1984.
