Dorothy C. Demkier, 84, of 1975 N. Grandview Ave., died Tuesday, May 20, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.

Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Private family visitation will be held. Burial of the cremated remains will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. The Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, is in charge of arrangements.

She was born on June 17, 1918, in Cassville, Wis., daughter of William H. and Edith (Mumm) Schneider. She married Harold B. Demkier on Feb. 10, 1941; he passed away on April 24, 1989.

Dorothy graduated from the former Mercy School of Nursing in 1940 and worked many years as a private duty nurse.

Surviving are four children, Patricia (Albert) Roth, Paul (Judy) Demkier, William (Sandi) Demkier and Robert (fiancee, Paula Clark) Demkier; and nine grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by two sisters, Marge Brozick and Sena Schwab.
