CASCADE, Iowa - Gerald J. "Rusty" Finn, 70, of 410 Cleveland St. SW, Cascade, died at 5:25 a.m. Saturday, May 17, 2003, at home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Martin's Catholic Church, Cascade, with the Rev. Daniel Krapfl officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Cascade, where military rites will be accorded by the Cascade American Legion Post 528. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Reiff Funeral Home, Cascade, where there will be a wake service at 5:30 p.m.

Mr. Finn worked at John Deere Dubuque Works until his retirement in March 1990.

He was born on July 3, 1932, in Temple Hill, son of John and Mary Isabelle (Duffy) Finn. He married Marie Takes on May 3, 1955, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Cascade.

He received his education at the former St. Peter's School in Temple Hill.

Rusty enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, farming and most of all spending time with his family, especially attending his grandchildren's activities.

He was an Army veteran, having served in the Korean War. He was a member of the Cascade American Legion Post 528, a member of the United Automobile Workers Local 94 and a member of St. Matthias Parish in Cascade.

Surviving are his wife, Marie Finn, of Cascade; three daughters, Janet (Carl) Takes and Joyce (Keith) Dirks, both of Amber, and Kay (Bob) Vonderhaar, of Cascade; two grandchildren, Matt and Molly Vonderhaar; and two sisters, Lollie Finn, of Cascade, and Mabel Fothergill, of Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Pat and Vincent Finn; and four sisters, Marguerite, Sabrina, Stella and Verna.

Rusty received the finest of care from Dr. Lawrence Kukla, Dr. Kirk Payne, the staff of Mercy Hospital and the Oncology Clinic, Pam and the Mercy Home Health Care and Dorothy of Hospice of Dubuque. The family thanks you.
