Sarah Tittle

Telegraph Herald - Sunday, May 18, 2003

Mrs. John Kent (Sarah) Tittle Sr., 88, of Ennoble Manor Care Center, formerly of 1544 Cedar St., died on Wednesday, May 14, 2003, at the care center.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hoffmann-Schneider Funeral Home, 1640 Main St., where friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Tittle was a homemaker. She formerly worked at Harriet's Tap and Grill as a dishwasher. She also made homemade pies, which were loved by the workers from the former Dubuque Packing Co.

She was born on May 23, 1914, in Fairview, Mont., daughter of George and Clarenda (Worthing) Brandes. She married John Kent Tittle on March 7, 1928, in Dubuque; he passed away on Feb. 20, 1960.

She was a former member of FOE Auxiliary.

Sarah was a very special lady. She was a mother and friend to all of the kids that lived in the flats. Sarah was and always will be a mom and a friend to all who knew her. If anyone was sick or in need of help, Sarah was there for that person.

Surviving are three daughters, Mary Davis, Beverly Wenzel and Diane (Harley) Bush, all of Dubuque; a son, Richard L. Tittle Sr., of Dubuque; 20 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a son, John K. Tittle Jr.; a daughter, Darlene Tittle; a grandson, Harley Bush Jr.; and a son-in-law, Earl Davis Sr.

Memorials may be given to Ennoble Manor Care Center.

Our everlasting love and thanks to a wonderful doctor, Dr. Matthew J. Kirkendall.
