M. Arlette Pier, 82, of 2170 Marion St., died at 6:05 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Key West, Iowa. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, where there will be a rosary at 4 p.m.

She was born on July 13, 1920, in Bellevue, Iowa, daughter of John William and Mae (Burns) Lundin.

She graduated from Mercy School of Nursing in Davenport, Iowa, as a registered nurse.

She married Harvey Pier in Davenport; he died Feb. 7, 1984. Together, they owned and operated the Airline Inn and Motel, Dubuque.

Surviving are a son, J. Scott Pier, of Dubuque; a daughter, M. Patricia Pier, of Phoenix, Ariz.; a grandson, Michael Douglas; a niece, Sharon Rombeau; two nephews, Reggie Peters and Robert Lundin Jr.; and her beloved dog, Lex.

She also was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Robert Lundin, in 1996.

Memorials may be given to the Dubuque Humane Society.

Thank-you to the doctors and the Mercy nursing staff who cared for Arlette and her family.
