Mildred C. Cocayne

Mildred C. "Millie" Cocayne, 92, of Luther Manor, formerly of 1205 Rhomberg Ave., died at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, March 14, 2006, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St. Friends also may call after 9 a.m. Friday at the church.

She was born on Nov. 11, 1913, in St. Donatus, Iowa, daughter of Anthony and Anna (Graesch) Lehnertz. She married John M. Cocayne on Aug. 9, 1931, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Dubuque; he preceded her in death on Aug. 8, 1988.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and a former Rebekah Lodge member.

Millie enjoyed playing cards, knitting, crocheting, watching the Cubs and spending time with her family.

Surviving are three sons, John (Janet), Jim (Pat), and Marv (Shirley), all of Dubuque; a daughter-in-law, Jerrie Cocayne, of Bettendorf; eight grandchildren, a step grandson, 14 great-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, and a son at birth, and a son, Dale Cocayne; four brothers; and a sister, in infancy.
