Raymond J. Rhomberg
Raymond J. Rhomberg, 82, of 1117 Rhomberg Ave., died of natural causes at 1:40 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, at home.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St. Burial will be in Dubuque Memorial Gardens, south of Dubuque, where military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Dubuque Post 6. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Rhomberg worked at the Dubuque Packing Co. for 39 years until his retirement in 1981.
He was born on May 12, 1918, in Dubuque, son of Fred and Mary (Pribly) Rhomberg. He married Martha C. Kremer on Dec. 30, 1944, at St. Donatus Catholic Church.
Ray served with the Army during World War II in Alaska and Korea.
He was a member of the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 150 A and a member of the American Legion Post 6. He enjoyed fishing and hunting in his younger days and will always be remembered as a "dog lover".
Surviving are his wife, Martha C. Rhomberg; three daughters, Jacqueline V. (John) Hutek, of Midland, Mich., Joyce J. (William) Koopman and Judy K. Rhomberg, both of Dubuque, three sons, Ronald L. (Carla) Rhomberg, Rick R. (Susan) Rhomberg, both of Dubuque, and Randy L. Rhomberg, of Tutweiler, Miss.; 21 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; a sister, Rosemary Kremer, of LaMotte; a brother, Leonard (Veronica) Rhomberg, of Dubuque, and a sister-in-law, Mary Lou Rhomberg, of LaMotte.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Ronald Rhomberg, and a brother, Alfred Rhomberg.
