Dorothy Iris Marty

Dorothy Iris Marty, 83, of 1406 Monroe St., Galesburg, IL., formerly of Dubuque, died at 8:17 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2005, at Rosewood Care Center, Galesburg.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Galesburg, with the Rev. William Miller, I.C. officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Galesburg. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Watson Funeral Home, Galesburg, where there will be a rosary at 8 p.m.

She was born on Feb. 22, 1922, in Dubuque, the oldest of nine children of Oliver and Iris (Wilmot) Keller.

She was reared and lived in Dubuque, with her family until moving to Galesburg in 1965.

She married Merlin "Mickey" Marty on April 18, 1942, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Dubuque.

She worked with her husband at North Gate Lanes, Galesburg, until retiring in 1982.

She was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Galesburg, and its Altar and Rosary Society.

She was the best mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother that nine children, 31 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren could ever have asked for.

Surviving are her husband, Merlin "Mickey" Marty, of Galesburg; nine children, Mike (Cecilia) Marty, of Bellevue, Iowa, Jerry (Peg) Marty, of East Dubuque, IL, Patric (Lynne) Marty, of Hazel Green, Wis., Barbara (Jack) Stevenson, Dan (Phyllis) Marty, Dave (Debbie) Marty and Jeff (Starr) Marty, all of Galesburg, Mary Kay (Van) Adkisson, of Roseville, IL, and Kara (Dave) Adams, of Pass Christian, Miss.; two brothers, Peter Keller, of Sebring, Fla., and John Keller, of Dubuque; five sisters, Dolores Jungblut, Ruth Neyens and Helen Gourley, all of Dubuque, and Buzzy Wolter and Cookie Kuehn, both of St. Catherine, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Oliver Keller, Jr.
