Wayne S. Noel

Wayne S. "Bud" Noel, 76, of Dubuque, died at 9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010, at home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 8, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with the Rev. Gary Meyer officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Key West, Iowa, where military rites will be accorded by the American Legion, Dubuque Post 6. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Monday at the church. The Leonard Funeral Home and Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, is in charge of arrangements.

He was born on Nov. 11, 1933, in Dubuque, son of Marcellan and Marguerite (O'Hea) Noel. He married Darlene Ruden on May 18, 1957.

He was a driver/salesman for 35 years, retiring in 1995.

He was faithful to his Cubs, Bears, Bulls and Cyclones.

He was a member of the Air Force from 1952 to 1956. He also was a member of the American Legion, The Teamsters Union 421 and the Holy Name Society of Sacred Heart Church.

Surviving are his wife, Darlene; nine children, Lynne (Shawn) Reinhard, of Coralville, Iowa, Mike (Jacki) Noel, Chuck (Cheryl) Noel, Shari (Jim) Doty, Dennis "Deno" (Jean) Noel and Andy (Teri) Noel, all of Dubuque, Ron (Tina) Noel, of Ankeny, Iowa, Nancy (Joseph) McDonough, of Granville, Ohio, and Sara (Mike) Brooks, of Urbandale, Iowa; 23 grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; a brother, William (Shirley) Noel, of Dubuque; two sisters, Mary Runnion, of Concord, Calif., and Jean (Jack) Dunwoody, of Dubuque; and sisters-in-law, Jackie Noel, of Dubuque, and Cheryl Noel, of Scottsdale, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Ann Marie, in infancy; and brothers, John, James and Delbert.

The family requests no flowers or plants.

The family wishes to thank Hospice of Dubuque, especially Cindy, Lisa and Heather, for all their care and kindness they gave to Wayne.
