EAST DUBUQUE, ILL. --- Donald C. Brimeyer, 71, of East Dubuque, died peacefully at 11:45 a.m. Friday, June 20, 2008, at the Des Moines VA Hospital.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, at Mueller Memorial Chapel in Linwood Cemetery. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery (Dubuque). Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St.

He was born on March 15, 1937, in Dubuque, son of Edward N. and Gladys (Mehl) Brimeyer. He was a graduate of St. Columbkille's High School.

He served in the Army from 1960 to 1962, and was based in Alaska.

Don was a sheet metal worker for many years. He would say he was a "Jack of all trades and master on none."

He enjoyed tinkering in his shed, hunting and fishing.

Don was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. He also like feeding the birds and the squirrels.

Surviving are his companion and caregiver, Judy Brimeyer, of East Dubuque; six children, Gail A. (Dan) Kuhle, of Peosta, Iowa, Jan M. (Greg) Neisewander, of Roscoe, Jerry L. "Sliver" (Gail) Brimeyer, Gary J. Brimeyer and JoLynn (finance, Eric Pike) Peter, all of Dubuque, and John D. (Danielle) Brimeyer, of Cuba City, Wis.; 14 grandchildren; five brothers, Thomas (Pat) Brimeyer, of Bettendorf, Iowa, Robert (Ruth) Brimeyer, of New Mulford, Roger (Ann) Brimeyer and Charles (Pat) Brimeyer, both of Dubuque, and Daniel (Alicia) Brimeyer, of Norwick, Conn.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, James, Jerry and David Brimeyer.
