Irma E. Fransen, 93, of Heritage Manor, formerly of 2955 Kaufmann Ave., died Monday, April 28, 2003, at Heritage Manor.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call form 3 to 8 p.m. today at the Siegert-Didesch Colonial Funeral Home, 390 N. Grandview Ave., where there will be a Holy Trinity scripture wake service at 4 p.m., and rosary at 7:30 p.m.

She was born on May 5, 1909, in Springbrook, Iowa, daughter of Joseph and Anna (Meyer) Kielhold. She married Clement Fransen on April 27, 1937; he died on Aug. 13, 1975.

Irma worked at JCPenney until 1973. She enjoyed to crochet and was a proud member of the J.C.D. Penney's retirees. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her family was where her greatest joy was found, and she never turned down an opportunity to spend time with her grandchildren.

She was a faithful member of the Holy Trinity Rosary Society and a longtime member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

Surviving are a son, Paul (Ruth) Fransen, of Peosta, Iowa; a daughter, Carol Hemesath, of Dubuque; 12 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law, Gerald Hemesath; a grandson, William Hemesath; a brother; and two sisters.

An Irma E. Fransen Memorial Fund has been established.

The family would like to thank the entire staff at Heritage Manor for all their hard work and wonderful care.
