Elaine Anna Kisting, 88, of Stonehill Care Center, formerly of 996 Cleveland Ave., died at 4:45 p.m. Friday, April 25, 2003, at the care center.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Columbkille's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Tom Kisting and the Rev. Philip Kruse officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Garnavillo, Iowa. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Mrs. Kisting taught school in the Dubuque Community School District from 1936 to 1944. She returned to teaching in 1960, until her retirement in 1977.
She was born on Nov. 22, 1914, in Oxford Junction, Iowa, daughter of Alonzo and Juanita (Kuenzel) Trebon. She married Herbert Kisting on Nov. 29, 1944, in Holy Cross, Iowa; he died on Feb. 23, 2003.
She graduated from the former St. Vincent's Academy in 1932, and Clarke College in 1936.
In 1936, she earned her pilot's license. She was an accomplished artist and enjoyed painting. She spent her summers at her beloved "Fin-Fan" summer home in Longville, Minn.
Surviving are two sons, Mark (Kathleen) Kisting, of Dubuque, and the Rev. Thomas Kisting, of Pine River, Minn.; and two granddaughters, Lisa Kisting, of Evanston, Ill., and Laura Kisting, of St. Paul, Minn.
She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Ellen Elaine, in 1952; a brother, Venard Trebon; and a sister, Rosemary Trebon.
Memorials may be given to St. Columbkille's Catholic Church and Stonehill Care Center.
