Robert J. Lammer, 85, of 1780 Hale St., died Wednesday, April 23, 2003, at home.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Key West, Iowa, where military rites will be accorded by the Tri-State Vietnam Veterans Association and the Dubuque Marine Corps League. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road.

Mr. Lammer worked at John Deere Dubuque Works for 30 years, retiring in 1977.

He was born on July 31, 1917, in Jackson County, Iowa, son of Michael and Mary (Duehr) Lammer.

He married Ilene Haley on Nov. 16, 1943, in Dubuque. He and Ilene were charter members of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church.

He served in the Army during World War II. He was a member of the United Automobile Workers Local 94 and served as a committeeman. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion and served on the board of directors of Dutrac Community Credit Union.

He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.

Surviving are his wife, Ilene, of Dubuque; three sons, John Lammer, Joseph (Nancy) Lammer and James Lammer, all of Dubuque; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.
