Michael Edward Rhomberg, 60, of 703 Ravenwood Court, died at 3 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2003, at home after a lengthy illness.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church, where there will be a wake service at 4 p.m. The Hoffmann-Schneider Funeral Home, l640 Main St., is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Rhomberg worked at Rainbo Tire Co. until his retirement in 1989.

He was born on Feb. 4, 1943, in Dubuque, son of Louis A. and Nadine (Conlon) Rhomberg. He married Susan M. Seipp on June 8, 1963, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Dubuque.

He attended the former Loras Academy and graduated from Wahlert High School. He attended Loras College in Dubuque and Eastern New Mexico University.

He served four years in the Air Force in Texas and New Mexico.

He enjoyed the outdoors all his life. He loved riding his Harley motorcycle, hunting, target shooting, gun collecting and boating on the Mississippi. He loved construction, especially woodworking.

He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker parish.

Surviving are his wife, Susan M. Seipp Rhomberg; daughters, Jeanne (Mark) Regan, of Jacksonville, Fla., and Theresa (James) Kirpes, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; sons, John (Jodi) Rhomberg, of Dubuque, Paul (Julie) Rhomberg, of Iowa City, and Mark (Tracy) Rhomberg, of Grayslake, Ill.; 14 grandchildren; and brothers, Richard J. Rhomberg, of Norfolk, Neb., and David Rhomberg, of Mechanicsville, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Joseph the Worker Church, Dubuque County Right to Life and Hospice of Dubuque.

The family wishes to thank Hospice for their loving caregiving.
