Rita G. Gleason, 85, of Stonehill Care Center, formerly of 2291 Lombard St., died at 7:20 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2003, at the care center.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, with burial in Resurrection Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, where there will be a rosary at 5 p.m.

Mrs. Gleason worked for the city of Dubuque in the clerks office for many years until her retirement in 1980.

She was born on Oct. 20, 1917, in Asbury, Iowa, daughter of Daniel and Julia (Lyons) Gainer. She married Thomas Gleason on Oct. 22, 1941, at St. Philomena Catholic Church, Asbury.

She graduated from the former Visitation Academy in 1936. She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Altar and Rosary Society and the Visitation Alumni.

Surviving are a son, Terry (Diane) Gleason, of Stafford, Va.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas, on Jan. 25, 1989; a son, Thomas Gleason II, on Oct. 26, 1990; three brothers Allan, Clement and Robert; and two sisters, Fannie and Catherine.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church.
