Mrs. Albert P. (Helen M.) Pfohl, 82, of Luther Manor, formerly of 14273 Old Highway Road, died at 9:40 p.m. Monday, March 31, 2003, at Luther Manor.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Nativity Catholic Church. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where there will be a parish wake service at 7 p.m.

She was born on April 8, 1920, in Dubuque, daughter of John and Amelia (Sroka) Gool. She married Albert P. Pfohl on Aug. 5, 1936, at St. Philomena's Church; he died June 6, 2000.

She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She took great pride in taking care of her home and yard and her beloved animals. Helen was a member of Nativity Parish. She was very artistic and enjoyed drawing. Helen was an animal lover, feeding the birds and squirrels and caring for her dogs.

Surviving are a daughter, Catherine M. (Ruben) Klimeck, of Columbus, Ga.; two sons, Joseph A. (Judith) Pfohl and Edward D. Pfohl, both of Dubuque; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Pfohl, in 1954; two sisters, Grace Ponder and Catherine Langfitt; and a brother, Charles Gool.

Memorials may be given to Hospice of Dubuque, 2255 Kennedy Road, Dubuque, Iowa 52002.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Hospice of Dubuque and Luther Manor for their care and concern for Helen.
