Mrs. LaVern A. (Thelma Theresa) Lehman, 83, of 623 Lincoln Ave., died at 11:20 p.m. Sunday, March 30, 2003, at home surrounded by her family.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in Mueller Memorial Chapel at Linwood Cemetery. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St.

Mrs. Lehman was formerly employed as a nurse's aide at Mercy Medical Center and Our Lady of Lourdes.

She was born on March 3, 1920, in Dubuque, daughter of Fred and Belle (Corbet) Kemp. She married LaVern A. Lehman on April 29, 1944, in Norfolk, Va.

She was a member of St. Mary's Parish. She was an avid Cubs fan and enjoyed playing shuffle board and cards with her friends.

Surviving are three daughters, Judy A. (Dennis) Blosch, Carole L. "Karen" Lyons and Audrey V. (Terry) Sproule, all of Dubuque; a son, LaVern A. "Butch" (Bonnie) Lehman Jr., of Dubuque; 10 grandchildren, Donna Mihalakis, Rick Lyons, James "Jay" Lyons, Jamie and Lori Silva, Courtney and Shay Lehman, Tressa Heim, Amanda Sproule and Terry "T.J." Sproule Jr.; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Grutz and Isabel Bisping, both of Dubuque; a brother, Robert "Bob" Kemp, of Dubuque; many nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Christine "Teenie" Kemp, of Dubuque.

She was preceded in death by her husband, LaVern A. Lehman, on March 4, 1984; two sisters, Mrs. Andy (Marcella) Blum and Mrs. Harry (Dorothy) Dress; and four brothers, Wendel "Wink" Kemp, Eugene "Corky" Kemp, Fred "Puzzy" Kemp and Donald "Don" Kemp.

A Thelma T. Lehman Memorial Fund has been established.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Hospice of Dubuque for their care and concern for Thelma; and a special thank-you to Donna Mihalakis for her loving care.
