Mrs. Carl E. (Vivian M.) Glab, 83, of Stonehill Care Center, formerly of 761 Rose St., and 291 S. Hill St., died at 11:50 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2003, at the care center.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Easter Monday, April 21, at Nativity Catholic Church, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Monday, April 21. Burial of the cremated remains will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

She was born on Aug. 29, 1919, in Peosta, Iowa, daughter of George and Anna (Schermer) Beckmann. She grew up in Dyersville, Iowa.

She married Carl E. Glab on May 24, 1944, in Los Angeles; he preceded her in death on Oct. 2, 1984. They moved to Dubuque in 1946. Vivian was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker.

She enjoyed gardening, being outdoors and playing with her beloved cat, Molly. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a special source of happiness.

Surviving are a daughter, Karla A. (James) Braig, of Dubuque; two sons, James C. (Karen Goodwin) Glab, of New York, and Jeff G. (Tina) Glab, of Los Angeles; four grandchildren, Christopher Braig, of Minneapolis, Jennifer Braig (Tim Steckline), of Spearfish, S.D., Amy (Matt) Lindstrom, of Albany, N.Y., and Sonia Margrit Glab, of Los Angeles; four great-grandchildren, Maria and Vivian Steckline and Anna and Isaac Lindstrom; a sister, Mary Wohlford, of Dyersville; a brother, John Luke (Mary Kay) Beckmann, of Ankeny, Iowa; many nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Valeria Beckmann, of Dyersville.

She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Alana Williams; two brothers, Tom (Eileen) Beckmann and Paul Beckmann; and a sister, Esther Sears.

Memorials may be given to Hospice of Dubuque, 2255 Kennedy Road, Dubuque, Iowa 52002 and to the Dubuque Humane Society, 175 Menard Court, Dubuque, Iowa 52003.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Stonehill Care Center and Hospice of Dubuque for their care and concern.
