Denise M. Wortley, 21, of 2217 Woodland, died of natural causes at 12:09 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2003, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque.

Services will be at 7:30 p.m. today at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today.

She worked at the International House of Pancakes, and was an active participant with Goodwill Industries.

She was born on July 7, 1981, in Hinesville, Ga., daughter of Steven and Jutta (Fleck) Wortley.

Denise was a 2000 graduate of Dubuque Senior High School. She liked bowling with her friends and reading. Denise enjoyed caring for her pet bird, Boo-bee.

Surviving are her father, Steven J. Wortley (Dianne Schiesl), of Dubuque; a sister, Mandy M. Wortley, of Omaha, Neb.; a nephew, Alexander Wortley, of Omaha; her grandparents, Jack and Thelma Wortley, of Dubuque; her great-grandmother, Dorothy Wortley, of Dubuque; and aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Jutta Wortley, on March 15, 1995.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Goodwill Industries, 2300 Kennedy Road, Dubuque, Iowa 52002.

The family wishes to send a special thank-you to the Goodwill staff workers who helped make Denise's life such a joy.
