Clarence A. Dirksen, 79, of 891 Stone Ridge Place, died Wednesday, March 12, 2003, at home.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, where friends may call after 1 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by the American Legion. The Hoffmann-Schneider Funeral Home, 1640 Main St., is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Dirksen owned Dirksen Electric Co., retiring in 1983.

He was born on July 16, 1923, in Dubuque, son of Clarence and Grace (Trude) Dirksen. He married Ruth Buol on Nov. 27, 1948, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Dubuque.

He served in the Army during World War II.

He was a member of the Holy Name Society, the American Legion and the National Electric Contractors Association.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Surviving are his wife, Ruth; two daughters, Diane Dirksen, of Dubuque, and Kathy (Fred) Lamont, of Green Bay, Wis.; two grandsons, Alex and Nick Lamont; and two sisters, Lorrayne Oswald and Jeanne Kieffer, both of Dubuque.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, David, in 1982; and a sister, Betty Stanley.

Memorials may be given to St. Anthony's Catholic Church.
