ZWINGLE, Iowa - Delbert J. Laughlin, 62, of Rockford, Ill., formerly of Zwingle, died at 7:35 p.m. Thursday, March 6, 2003, at the home of his sister.

Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Assumption Catholic Church, Sylvia Switch, rural Zwingle, with the Rev. Paul Lippstock officiating. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery. The Fitzgerald & Associates Funeral Home, Rockford, is in charge of arrangements.

He was born on April 30, 1940, in Maquoketa, son of Raymond V. and Margaret C. (Eckness) Laughlin.

He lived in Rockford since 1992 coming here from Colorado Springs, Colo. He was previously a resident of Zwingle where he had worked for Zwingle Implement for many years. In Rockford, he had worked at Eagle Food Centers.

He was a 15 year Army veteran having been stationed in Fort Knox, Ky.; Fort Leavenworth, Kan.; Germany; Korea; and Thailand.

He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus.

Surviving are his brothers and sisters, John P. Laughlin, of Tucson, Ariz., Karen (Roger) Petit, of Destrihan, La., Donna Arensdorf, of Rockford, Diana (Dave) Keller, of Moses Lake, Wash., and Debra Wood, of New Providence; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a nephew, Brandon Petit.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Northern Illinois Hospice Association, American Cancer Society and the family.
