-STOCKS- Sarah Mathews was born at Netherton, near Wakefield, Yorkshire, England, Jan. 6 1812. In 1838 she married John Stocks, and came to America with her husband in 1812. After a three-years' residence in New York they settled in Dubuque, Iowa whence in 1848 they removed to Cottage Hill, Iowa, where Mr. Stocks died several years ago. In 1891 she made her home with he youngest son, at Epworth, until her death, 4-16-1893. She was the mother of six sons and five daughters, of whom five sons and three daughters survive. She was converted in 1816, and united with the M. E. Church, of which she remained an active and consistent member. Her faith in God was strong and unwavering, and her end was peaceful.Funeral services were held at Cottage Hill April 13 and her body was laid beside that of her husband in the cemetary at that place. -A.M.
