Bernice D. Baumhover, 84, of Luther Manor, died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003, at Luther Manor.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Siegert-Didesch Colonial Funeral Home, 390 N. Grandview Ave., where there will be a wake service at 6:00 p.m.
She was born on Aug. 14, 1918, in rural Dyersville, Iowa, daughter of Frank and Frances (Ploessl) Burlage. She married Alfred A. Baumhover on April 14, 1947, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church; he died in 1996.
She graduated from Immaculate Conception Academy.
She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, its Holy Rosary Society and the Dubuque Bowling Association.
Bernice enjoyed bowling, gardening, reading and cooking. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are three children, Karen (Leo) Laughren, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Lee (Tracy) Baumhover, of Davenport, Iowa, and Kim (Jim) Saul, of Dubuque; four grandchildren, Angie (Shawn) Wuchter, of New Hampton, Iowa, Mindy (Eric) Suthers, of Cedar Rapids, and Lynn (Mike) Jasper and Jim (Heather) Saul, both of Dubuque; six great-grandchildren, Rhett and Cody Wuchter, Hampton and Ethan Schrodt, Luna Saul and Mikalyn Jasper; and a sister, Mildred (Lloyd) Rosemeyer, of East Dubuque, Ill.
She also was preceded in death by a sister, Cyrilla DeMuth; and a brother, Leroy Burlage.
Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association.
The family would like to thank Barb K. at Hospice of Dubuque and the staff at Luther Manor for their loving care.
