Susan E. "Sue" Smith, 50, of 4023 Flamingo Drive, died at 11:35 a.m. Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Nativity Catholic Church. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Dennis Kitchen Funeral Home, 3860 Asbury Road, where there will be a Nativity Catholic Church Parish Christian wake service at 7 p.m.

She was employed as the manager of Casey's General Store in Asbury, Iowa, and previously worked at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque for 20 years.

She was born on Jan. 26, 1953, in Dubuque, daughter of Robert H. and Mary J. (Bushman) Beecher. She grew up in Dubuque and graduated from Stephen Hempstead High School in 1970.

She was a member of Nativity Catholic Church.

Surviving are a son, Jeremy R. Smith, at home; two brothers, Rick (Julie) Beecher and Gary (Sue) Beecher, both of Dubuque; four sisters, Judy and Diane Beecher and Shelly (Gary) Freiburger, all of Dubuque, and Lennie (Terry) Mellows, of Marshalltown, Iowa; five nieces; eight nephews; a great-niece; two great-nephews; her stepfather, Joseph D. Korman, of Dubuque; and a dear friend, Ann Schroeder, of Peosta, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her maternal grandmother, Mary Bushman.

In lieu of flowers, a Susan E. "Sue" Smith Memorial Fund has been established by her family.
