Dorothy C. Lagen, 96, of 289 Shaddix Lane, Talladega, AL 35160, formerly of Dubuque, IA, died Friday, March 13, 2009 at her son's home on Martin Lake, Talladega, AL.

A Mass of Christian Burial was offered March 16, 2009, at St. Anne Catholic Church, Columbus, GA with Father Gerald Schreck as Celebrant. A Rosary Service was at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary; interment at Evergreen Memory Gardens Cemetery, Columbus, GA.

Mrs. Lagen taught at Pacelli Catholic High School in Columbus, GA for 25 of her 44-year teaching career.

She was born in Dubuque,IA August 3, 1912, the daughter of Paul and Regina (Butlett) Nicks. She graduated from Clarke College.

She married Robert Cole Lagen November 27, 1942 at Fort Benning, GA. They lived in various places as a military family before settling in Columbus, GA.

Surviving are her daughter Patty (Jack) Winch of Tacoma, Wash.; her son Robert Cole (Patsy) Lagen, Jr. of Talladega, AL; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Coletta Trausch Lagen of Dubuque, and Annabel Blichmann Nicks of Atlanta, GA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Maj. (Ret) Robert Cole Lagen, and her brothers Paul G. Nicks and Charles Nicks.
