A. D. Swartzel Succumbs Here. Vice President of Big Firm in Minneapolis.
A. D. Swartzel, 58 Vice President of the Malto-Meal Sales Corporation, Minneapolis, Minn, died at his home 1573 Main Street, Sunday morning at 3 o'clock.
Mr. Swartzel had been in poor health for the past five weeks, but his condition did not become serious until two days before his death.
The body is at the Hoffmann Mortuary, 1640 Main Street, where funeral services will be conducted Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
He was born June 10, 1882 at Quasqueton, IA. When he was 16 years old he entered the employ of the John T. Hancock Company, Dubuque and was employed by that firm and its successor, the Western Grocery Co., until 15 years ago, when he became affliated with the Malto-Meal Sales Corporation. He was vice president of that firm at the time of his death. He was a member of the Dubuque Lodge of Elks and the Minneapolis Club, Minn. Surviving with his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth (Dollie) Fritschie (sic) Swartzel, are his daughter, Miss Gloria Swartzel, Dubuque; his son, Dean Swartzel, Des Moines, IA and Robert Swartzel, Dubuque, IA; his sister, Mrs. Alta Bellman, Waterloo, IA; his brother, Roy S. Swartzel, Milwaudee, Wis; and a granddaughter.

Swartzel - A. D., age 58, 1573 Main St., Dubuque, Ia, passed away at the family home Sunday morning, June 23, 1940, 3:00 o'clock. Funeral services at the Hoffmann Mortuary, 1640 Main St., Wednesday morning at 11:00 o'clock. Burial in Mount Calvary cemetery. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth (Dollie) Swartzel; one daughter, Miss Gloria; two sons, Dean, DesMoines, Ia; Robert, Dubuque; one granddaughter, Barbara Deanne Swartzel, DesMoines, Ia; one sister, Mrs. Alta Bellman, Waterloo, Ia; and one brother, Roy S. Swartzel, Milwaukee, Wis. (Arrangements by Hoffmann).

Monsignor Patrick J. Coffey, pastor of St. Patrick's Church, officiated at the services; at the graveside in Mount Calvary cemetery.
Pallbearers were Leslie Knapp, Charles Northrup, Edward Gaynor, Albert Betz, John Campbell, and John Lynch.
