Death claimed Engelhardt Hemmi at the home on Sageville road last Friday afternoon at 4 o'clock. The funeral will be held Monday morning from the family home to Holy Ghost church at 9 o'clock. The body will be interred in Mt. Calvary cemetery. Mr. Hemmi was born in Churwalben(sic), Switzerland, ninety-five years ago and he had made his home on the Sageville road for the past fifty-five years although he had lived in Dubuque county for sixty-three years. For many years he operated a dairy on the Sageville road. His wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Hemmi, died Sept 23, 1930 and two sons preceded him in death. He was a devout Catholic and attended Holy Ghost church. He was a member of the Holy Family Society and the Holy Name Society. He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Alex Hasler, Chicago; Mrs. Andrew Frommelt and Mrs. G. M. Schroeder, both of the Sageville road and eight grandchildren.

Submitter Notes: Engelhardt Hemmi was the son of Joseph and Mary Brunold. Engelhardt’s wife, Elizabeth Patscheider (spelling variations), and two sons (Antoin and Johann) preceded him in death. Additionally, his parents and four siblings (Christian, David, and Peter Hemmi and Barbara Hemmi Stecher) preceded him in death.
The casket bearers were relatives: Anton Stecher, Walter and Joseph Koester, Clarence Hemmi, Leo Vogt, and Christ Arquint. Mr. and Mrs. Alex Hasler, Lucille and Edwin Hasler, Chicago, attended the funeral.
Engelhardt Hemmi ran a Dairy Business on Sageville Rd., Dubuque Co., IA. Mr. Hemmi often had family members participating in his Dairy; including his brothers, David and Peter Hemmi, his brother in law, Christian Stecher, and niece, Otillia Hemmi Kindle.
