Elizabeth Hemmi 1845 - 1930

Mrs. Elizabeth Hemmi, who had been ill for a long time, died at the home on Sageville road Tuesday morning. The funeral will be held Thursday morning from the home to Holy Ghost church at 9 o'clock. Interment will be made in Mt. Calvary cemetery. Mrs. Hemmi was born in Tarasp, Switzerland, Feb 06, 85 years ago, and came to this city with her husband, Engelhardt Hemmi, when she was 25 years old. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband, three daughters, Mrs. Alex Hasler, Chicago; Mrs. Andrew Frommelt and Mrs. (Dr.) Geo. Schroeder, Dubuque; eight grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Pauline Hemmi. Two sons preceded her in death. Mrs. Hemmi was a Catholic and attended Holy Ghost church. She was affliated with the Rosary Society and the Sacred Heart League. A kind and loving mother and neighbor, Mrs. Hemmi was beloved by innumerable friends, who extend their sympathy to the grief stricken family.

Submitter Notes: Elizabeth Patscheider Hemmi. She was married to Engelhardt Hemmi, who died in 1932. Her sister, Pauline was married to Engelhardt Hemmi’s brother, David Hemmi. Engelhardt Hemmi ran a dairy business on Sageville Rd., Dubuque Co., IA. There are several spelling variations for “Patscheider”.
