Catherine Eitel 1858 - 1944

Mrs. Catherine Eitel, 86, widow of the late Captain Michael Eitel, died at her residence, 1351 Elm Street, Saturday evening at 7:30 o'clock after a lingering illness. The remains are at the Hoffman Mortuary, where friends may call after 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon. The funeral will be held Tuesday morning from the Mortuary to St. Mary's Church at a time to be announced later. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Mrs. Eitel was born in Madison, Ind, Jan 21, 1838, a daughter of Carl and Magdella Huck. She had made her home in Dubuque for 65 year. Mrs. Eitel was a Catholic and a member of St. Mary's Church, the Rosary Society of that parish, and the Third Order of St. Francis. Survivors are one son, Albert Eitel, Dubuque; three daughters, Mrs. Louis C. (Carrie) Kolfenbach, Dubuque, Sister M. Loretta, FSAP, LaCross, Wis, and Miss Madelin Eitel, Dubuque; eight grandchildren; 11 grandchildren; two brothers, John Huck, Madison, Ind, Joseph Huck, Calhan, Colo.; and one sister, Mrs. N. A. Kremer, Madison, Ind. She was preceded in death by her husband, a captain in the Fire Department, in 1925, and one son, John J. Eitel.
