Death of Two Pioneers.

Mrs. A. Siege and Mrs. Fritsche Answer Final Summons.

Mrs. Anthony Siege, one of Dubuque's most highly esteemed women, died Saturday afternoon at the family residence, at 144 West Locust street. She was a native of Austria and came to America in 1844. She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Reath, of Newark, N. J., who was at her beside when she passed away. The funeral takes place this afternoon from St. Mary's church. Mrs. Siege was a good and noble woman, one whose life was brightened by her many kindly deeds and her death comes as a matter of regret to all.

Mrs. Catherine Fritsche, an old and respected citizen of this city, died Saturday morning after a lingering illness at her home at 1631 Main St. She was born in Switzerland in 1846 and came to the United States in 1873, residing for a short time at Waterloo. In 1874 she came to this city, which has since been her home. Her husband died fourteen years ago. She is survived by six children: William of Chicago, Mrs. P. Hemmi, of Kenosha, Wis., Mrs. Winter, Mrs. Mont, of Dubuque and Amelia and Elizabeth. Mrs. Fritsche was chartiably inclined and her many acts of kindness in ameliorating the sufferings of others will never be forgotten. Her long residence here, and her loving disposition endeared her to all, and the news of her demise will come as a severe shock to her many friends.

Mrs. Catherine Frische (sic) died at the family residence, 1631 Main street, at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, after an illness of nine weeks. Mrs. Fritsche was born in Bludenz, Austria, August 24, 1846, settling in Waterloo for a time. In the year 1874 she came to this city and resided here uninterrupted until the time of her death. The husband of Mrs. Fritsche died June 10, 1889. She was a woman of kindly ways and noble life and her death has caused deep sorrow. Her life was one of great beauty and gentleness and her passing has been the cause of sincere sorrow. Always charitable and genial she won many friends who will sorrow at the death of the good woman. She is survived by six children, William of Chicago, Mrs. Peter Hunnik (sic) of Kenosha, Mrs. Winters, Mrs. Mont of Dubuque, and Mollie and Elizabeth. The funeral will be announced later.
